LCMS Principal Update for February 16-20, 2015

Dear LCMS Bobcat Family and Friends:

I hope that all of you are staying nice and warm!

David Szalankiewicz (Director of Facilities) and Myron Thurston (Head Custodian) and their teams have done an outstanding job of making sure that our walkways are clear, and the building remains in good shape during these cold times. Kenney Forrest (Director of Safety, Security, and Administrative Services) and Doug Straley (Assistant Superintendent of Administration) and his team have also been ensuring that our busses run efficiently and monitoring the status of our back roads. Thank you for all that you do to ensure our students' and staff's safety!

Meanwhile, my administrative team and I have been busy working at school to ensure for a smooth transition once school resumes. We should receive a phone call from Central Office this weekend updating us on our status regarding school openings and/or school closings.

Possibly, some athletic games, athletic practices, club activities, homework assignments, and field trips may need to be readjusted due to the loss of time. Should that be the case, once school resumes, my staff and I will inform you of any new dates or changes.

If we have school on Monday, February 23, this will be an "A Day." We will still have Picture Day on Wednesday, February 25. Payment of pictures will be due later. Students only need to bring their smiles on this day!

Finally, my mom, dad, and I want to wish you Happy Lunar New Year! 节快乐It is the Year of Sheep. We wish you much love, happiness, peace, and prosperity.

As always, please feel free to contact me at chenlc@lcps.k12.va.us if you have questions, concerns, or any feedback that you would like to share.

The purpose of this brief meeting with Dr. Chen is to identify with the individual student other measures to assist him or her in achieving greater academic success for the remainder of the year. This is a follow up conversation with your child as the LCMS guidance team and/or grade level administrator has met or is in the process of meeting with your child. These types of intervention meetings have occurred throughout the year if your child has not been performing as well in his or her classes. We appreciate your support in this matter, and if you need more information about your child's progress, my staff and I encourage you to contact your child's teacher and to sign up for teacher conferences. If your child is not staying after school for assistance, please encourage him or her to stay after school for help. Thank you again!
