Principal Reminder for April 16, 2015

Dear LCMS Bobcat Family and Friends:
As a reminder today, your child will bring home a very important letter about expedited retakes of SOL tests from Dr. LuAnne Unruh, the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. A member of the administrative or guidance team will be in contact with you to see whether or not you would like for your child to take the expedited retakes. Participation is completely voluntary. If your child qualifies to take the retake and you opt for your child to do so, please know that he or she will be remediated by teachers before taking the expedited retake. Information from the SOL tests and expedited retakes is helpful regarding future student placement. Furthermore, as referenced in my Principal Updates regarding summer school and retention criteria, successful completion on the expedited retake may possibly assist your child in not having to attend summer school. As always, please feel free to contact me at chenlc@lcps.k12.va.us if you have questions, concerns, or any feedback that you would like to share.
With warm regards,
Lisa C. Chen

Principal Reminders: March 23, 2015

Dear LCMS Bobcat Family and Friends:

Today, Dr. Pettit, Mr. Dorazio, my administrative team, members from Old Dominion Insurance and Investments, and I had the distinct honor to present Mr. Richard Dye with a certificate and balloons as being chosen as the LCMS Educator of the Year. He, along, the other teachers will receive a more formal ceremony on Thursday, May 7. Again, congratulations to Mr. Dye for all of his good, hard work with our students and for his innovative programming that he has brought to our students throughout time.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, March 24, LCMS will be hosting Parent/Teacher Conferences. Scheduled appointments with teachers will be from 3:40 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Walk in appointments will occur with teachers from 5:40 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. The library will also be hosting a book fair during Parent Teacher Conferences.

Additionally, the PTA is hosting a flower fundraiser. Flowers will be delivered right before Mother's Day! All order forms must be turned in by Monday, April 13 to your child's fourth period homeroom teacher.

Finally to all grade 8 students and their families, please remember that forms to attend the LCMS Transition Night on Wednesday, April 15 are due to your fourth period teacher by this Thursday, March 26.  If you need another copy of the form, please see Jennifer Purcell.

Thank you for taking the time to read these reminders. As I will say to my students each day, "This is important. You belong here. Effort makes a difference."

With warm regards,
Lisa C. Chen
